Member Records and Billing
Due to NAR's Board of Choice policy, SMAR must track many combinations of membership types to account for proper billing of State, Local and National dues. Add to this the various RPAC levels, Affiliates and lock box participation, proration of differing fiscal years and dues billing can be quite complex. The site is designed to sort out these issues by tying main fees to Member Type and lesser/optional fees to Office Position.
It is imperative to properly relate the combinations of Member Type and Office Position to the fees associated with them in order to reduce the inconveniences associated with incorrect dues invoices. The proper combination to use for any given member is not going to be consistent from association to association because the site permits each may define the fees and types as they wish. It may not remain consistent within an assoiciation either, because fees and membership types may change. However, users of this product still need to remain aware that changing fees affects membership records and that adding membership records relates to how they are billed.
Seconadries Paying National Dues Elsewhere and State Dues with SMAR:
This type of membership usually results from a desire to join SMAR as a Secondary member, when primary membership is with an out-of-state association. The member is already paying national dues via their primary association, but to belong to SMAR they must also pay dues to MAR. This creates a need for SMAR to bill this member State and Local dues without billing National Dues.
