More Detail - It is imperative to call your Delegate TODAY at 1-800-492-7122, and VOICE YOUR OPPOSITION! Now more than ever, homeowners should be protected!
As you know, the onerous Septic Bill (SB 554/HB 176) passed the Senate narrowly by only one vote. We share the concern and work for a cleaner bay through fair legislation; however, we believe it should not be at the devastating expense of homeowners on septic in the critical areas!
Contrary to the assumption that most waterfront and waterview homes are "McMansions" and can absorb the potential costs of over $12,000 for Nitrogen Reducing Technology - this could be financially devastating to most homeowners in the critical areas. Consistent with the argument that the Bay is for ALL Marylanders, this disproportionate burden should not be saddled on select homeowners, who - like many of us - are struggling with this economy.
This legislation is moving quickly given the few days of Session and we ABSOLUTELY need you to call your Delegate TODAY and urge them to OPPOSE HB 176/SB 554 UNLESS amendments are added to guarantee 100% cost-differential grants for homeowners and reduce the non compliance fines.
