2009 C.A.R.E.  AWARD APPLICATION
(Community Action and REALTOR® Excellence)
Deadline - Thursday, June 18, 2009
The C.A.R.E. Award is given annually by the Maryland Association of REALTORS® to Local Boards/Associations to recognize achievements in community service and charitable actions.  The award is designed to raise the profile of REALTORS®, to recognize the contributions REALTORS® make in their communities in terms of volunteer hours and money raised, and to offset the perception that REALTORS® are only concerned with the business transactions of buying and selling homes.

Please tell us what you do, whether as individuals, groups, teams or office wide.  Don't forget about participation with military groups, church drives, and/or hurricane relief efforts, etc.... You are strongly encouraged to include photos, testimonials, and any other supportive information that would further enhance your submission.
Prize: The award winning Boards/Associations will receive a cash prize to the charity of their choice, and be recognized at the Installation Banquet at the MAR Annual conference.  The monetary awards have increased to: First Place - $10,000; 1st Place Recognition - $5,000; 2nd Place Recognition - $1,000.
Contact Hannah Sanders at 301-274-4406 x 22 with any questions.

Increasingly, housing costs in many areas are exceeding the financial reach of many low-to-moderate-wage earners; such as, service-sector employees, entry-level staff and essential health personnel, as well as teachers, police officers and firefighters. Additionally, as many REALTORS® and lenders know, minorities and new immigrants often fall victim to discrimination and predatory lending practices. There are financial programs and tools that can help address the problem of affordability and you can learn about them. Develop your knowledge and expertise to serve this important and growing market by taking the steps to become WHC.
Workforce Housing Certified (WHC) REALTORS® are specially trained to receive customer inquiries on workforce and affordable housing finance programs for selected jurisdictions.  To obtain your WHC Certification all you need to do is attend the classes on February 6th & 20th!
Click here for more information about the benefits of and how to obtain the WHC Designation.
