2009-2010 Committees Forming
Committee Application Deadline: Friday, September 11, 2009
 
2009-2010 President Tim Wood welcomes all SMAR members to serve on at least one Committee in 2009-2010.  If you would like to serve on a SMAR Committee please click here to access the Committee Descriptions and volunteer form.  
 
Q.  If I am currently serving on a Committee and want to continue to serve on the same committee, do I need to sign up again?
 
A.  Yes.  Committee appointments are one-year in length - November 1st through October 31st. Each year the new SMAR president is responsible for making appointments to committees 
 
Q.  This will be my first time to volunteer for a committee.  How do I sign up?
 
A.  Whether you have served on a committee before or are volunteering for the first time, the procedure is the same.  Just click here to access the Committee Descriptions and volunteer form.
 
You may request a copy of the Committee Descriptions and volunteer form via email.  Send your request to information@smarweb.org.  If you are in the area, you may stop by the SMAR Office in Hughesville to pick up a copy of the Committee Descriptions and Volunteer Form.   
 

The SMAR Office will be closed on Monday, September 7th, in observance of Labor Day.  Offices will re-open at 8:30 am on Tuesday, September 8th.

REPA (Real Estate Professional Assistant Course)
 
Date: October 8 & 9, 2009

The Real Estate Professional Assistant (REPA) course is a comprehensive two-day certificate program that provides an intensive introduction to the real estate business and to the specific ways support staff can become valuable assets to their employers. Every administrative employee in the brokerage office, from the listing secretary to the personal assistant, will benefit tremendously from this quick-start program. Employers will save time and money with this resource for professional training while giving new employees a sense of "belonging" and "career" that comes from identification with the industry.

Residential Elective Course Objectives:
- Explain the cost/benefit value of green homes and features
- Describe resource-efficient home systems, appliances, building methods and materials
- Outline the benefits of an energy audit and guide clients in obtaining one
- Recognize sources of VOCs and toxins that impact indoor air quality and the environment
 
Continuing Education Approval - EACH Course (2-Day Core & Residential) has been approved for a 6 clock hours of Topic F) Professional enhancement for practicing licensees. Obtaining the Continuing Education Certificate is contingent on successfully passing EACH Course Final Exam with at least an 80%.
