FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Bobby Rucci
Candidate for Commissioner District 4
July 8, 2010
Bobby Rucci, a longtime county resident, filed for the office of Charles County Commissioner from District 4 on Friday July 2, 2010. Rucci, a small business owner and REALTOR® said, "I am not a political insider, but as the owner of three small businesses in this county I see every day that its time for change. Homeowners are being gouged with higher property tax bills while their property values fall and small business owners are drowning in government red tape while their livelihoods suffer. County government should be trying to provide relief to its homeowners and improving the business climate here. We have some of the highest tax rates in the State of Maryland and where is all the money going? It's time to take a hard look at this and find some common sense solutions."
If elected County Commissioner, Bobby Rucci, will support County teachers and public safety officers. "As a parent of a teenage son in our public school system, I know firsthand that we have an excellent school system thanks to our teachers. As a small business owner, I know that we have a sheriff's department that works hard to protect us every day. We need to keep our school system top notch and keep our communities safe by continuing to support the needs of these two institutions."
Rucci also knows that Charles County needs a complete approach to solving our transportation problems. "Light rail is great but it's a long-term solution and our commuters need relief now. We need both - a better road network which will provide a short-term solution and commuter rail for our future.
As an outdoorsman, Bobby believes in conserving the environment. "We need to take proactive measures to stop the flow of untreated waste from failing septic systems and the flow of outdated municipal sewage treatment plants into our waterways. Our county is filled with beautiful natural features and I believe we should all be good preservers of our environment so it can be enjoyed for generations to come."
As part of his longtime commitment to the community, Bobby, age 51, is a Director of the Charles County Crime Solvers, a member of the La Plata Rotary, the Charles County Chamber of Commerce and past member of the Waldorf Lions Club. Bobby and his wife, Diana, are also supporters of Hospice of Charles County, the Greater Waldorf Jaycees, Angels' Watch Shelter, Civista Health Foundation, Lions Camp Merrick, The Southern Maryland Woman's League, ZONTA and the Charles County Humane Society. The Ruccis reside in Waldorf and have three sons Dominic, Johnny and Joey.
