Come out and meet your Legislators! The Annual Legislative Luncheon sponsored by SMAR's Legislative Committee will be held Monday, February 6, 2012, at The REALTOR® Center in Hughesville. Special keynote address by Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown. Lunch begins at 11:30 am and the program will start at 12 noon. Cost is $20 per person. Registration deadline is February 3, 2012. Topic: F) Professional enhancement for practicing licensees
For many real estate professionals, short sales and foreclosures are the new “traditional” real estate transaction. Knowing how to help sellers maneuver the complexities of short sales as well as help buyers pursue short sale and foreclosure opportunities are not merely good skills to have in today’s market—they are critical. And while short sales and foreclosures are not for the faint of heart, agents with the proper tools and training can use these specialty areas to build their business for the long term. This one-day course is an approved elective for the Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR®) designation and the Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource (SFR) certification. *Obtaining the Continuing Education Certificate is contingent on successfully passing the course final exam with at least an 80%.

Community Outreach
This year’s Senior Santa project was a smashing success, nearly twice as many seniors received gifts as did last year and the Community Relations/CARE Award Committee thanks all the generous SMAR members who made this possible.
To keep that momentum going, don’t forget these on-going drives also sponsored by the Community Relations/CARE Award Committee:
• Winter coats, scarves, gloves & hats (clean and in good condition) will be collected through January 2012. The items will be donated to area shelters for men, women & children.
• Clean, lightly used clothing for local elementary school students (K – 5) is collected all year long.
• Non-perishable food is collected year round and is given to local area food banks in all three counties. Why not bring a can (or 2) with you when you come to the Board for a meeting or a class?
