Medicare Tax Rumors
Misleading emails and other communications about the 3.8% Medicare tax in the health care reform law continue to circulate. You might have received one or more of these emails. The messages usually say that the 3.8% tax is imposed on unearned income that includes the sale of a principle residence.

502 Single Family Rural Housing Program Update
Last week,Congress finally passed legislation to restore funding to the 502 single-family rural housing program. The legislation will increase the guarantee fee for borrowers (but still allow it to be financed), which will make the program self-sufficient.

Status of the Homebuyer Assistance Act of 2010 Extension
The United States House of Representatives has just passed HR 5623, the Homebuyer Assistance and Improvement Act of 2010, by a vote of 409-5. This bill extends the deadline for closing tax credit eligible transactions from June 30 to September, 30, 2010.

Homebuyer Tax Credit Extended Through 9/30/10
Congress has passed an extension of the Homebuyer Tax Credit closing deadline!!!!! The extension applies only to transactions that have ratified contracts in place as of 4/30/10 that have not yet closed. The new closing deadline for eligible transactions is now September 30, 2010.
